Internet Security Review - FAQs Answered
Internet security review sites can provide useful information to help you select your internet security software. However, it is not easy to judge which sites are useful or not. There are a number of review sites available online but the quality of the information they provide varies enormously. Here are some answers to common FAQs to help you judge whether an internet security review site is any good.
1) What types of sites should I be wary of and why?
You need to be wary of review sites with very little meaningful content or insight of the product being reviewed. Affiliates use review site formats to sell products they are promoting. Usually affiliates will push products with the highest commission regardless of whether the product is any good. This is not to say that all affiliate sites provide poor reviews.
In order to judge the quality of an affiliate site you need to take a look around. If the product review is only the content on the site and there is no other meaningful content then it is probably an affiliate sales site. If the site provides good content in conjunction with the review then the review is probably decent too. Also be aware how you got to the site. If you clicked on an advert or sponsored result somebody is paying for your click and therefore need to make sales.
2) What internet review sites should I trust?
Chances are the sites belonging to quality PC publications will contain good reviews you can trust. Take a look at PC Magazines or Computer Shoppers websites. It is also likely that sites ranked highly on Googles search results will provide a good review as Google considers these sites an authority. Search results can be manipulated but if you click on a site and the content looks good and of high quality then it is likely the review would be good too. The final place you can look is for recommendation at popular computer forums like DaniWeb or ComputerHope.
3) What should I look for in a good review?
A good review will include both positive and negative points about the given product. A balanced review is key to making a good recommendation. When you read a good review you should be able to get a good feel for the features and capability of the product.
4) What other tips should I follow to make a good purchase decision?
One of the most important tips is to look for consistency. If a product is indeed good then it should be highly ranked in a number of different, independent reviews.
These tips should help you judge whether a site offers a good internet security review. My recommendation is below.
