It seems that Democrats are coming close to achieving the goal to categorize global warming transformation as a "national security" concern.
Democrats are making effort to include language in current years Intelligence Authorization bill. It would allow intelligence agencies to devote a piece of their resources to learn the threat to national security from climate change or global warming.
The intelligence group of people is ready to focus on intimidation from human actors but not from the climate. The Democrats scheme would gather the interest of intelligence agencies.
It is now focused on a few issues like terrorism, mass destruction weapons, and rogue states, etc. It will divert a part of that awareness towards understanding hypothetical weather-related situations.
This move surely qualifies as an effort to come back to a pre-9/11 state of mind. In reality, throughout the Clinton government, the CIA was ordered to learn environmental issues. At that time, Al Gore actually asked the CIA about the climate events.
Although, the global warming issue is really caring, and it needs attention, but still it is misguided. Our national security agencies need to focus on national security rather than weather.
If the Democrats succeed to pass this offer in the intelligence bill, it will demonstrate that their approach towards national security is useless.
The Director of National Intelligence, Michael McConnell, recently stepped into this discussion.
Michael McConnell sent a note to Congress saying that intelligence agencies ought to conduct a complete revision of the national security insinuation of global warming.
